Best Openings in Cartoon History
My favorite 20 animation/cartoon openings. From Anime to American cartoons.
Now for tradition sake, I'm only gonna use openings that had been seen in the U.S.A. (most amercanized anime openings SUCKED...but there were a few that are timeless and I actually like better in comparison to the orginal japanese stuff....note-I normally don't favor americanized openings over japanese ones....I rarely ever do this.)
So.....here we go!
For number 20-I'm gonna have to say, the opening for the cartoon-Beetlejuice. It was wacky, cooky, spooky, and it messed with your head. I LOVED IT!!!
For number 19-I'm gonna have to say the orginal Scooby Doo-Where Are You opening...as a kid, that song was just really catchy. I loved it.
For number 18-the Danny Phantom theme song. And this is coming from a person who HATES rap with a passion. But something about that song was incredibly catchy. It stuck with me, and it had cool animation to go with it.
For number 17-I'll go with, Sailor Moon opening theme-now I quickly grew out of this show growing up....but, to this day, this song will get STUCK IN MY HEAD, and it's very catchy. (and come on...don't PRETEND you don't find that guitar solo amazing XD)
For number 16-Tiny Tunes adventures. Again-a VERY VERY catchy song. It was fun to sing to as a kid. And heck, it's still fun to sing along too.
For number 15-the X-men: Evolution theme. It was cool, beautiful animation, and I LOVED that guitar! Plus it had me always excited to see Nightcrawler, because I loved that guy!!!! :D (plus the part with Wolverine was just SO FREAKING AWESOME! But what do you expect? It's wolverine!)
For number 14-the intro to a TV show called W.I.T.C.H.....unlike Sailor Moon, you would still catch me, dead, watching this show. And the song was both feminine for girls (our heroes were chicks), but at the same time, it was more cool and had some edge to it, so more older girls can enjoy, plus it fit the genre of fantasy/adventure/drama.
For number 13-Justice League, I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!! I would always geek out when it came on! And the intro was so powerful, yet to the point! The music (like for all DCAU shows) just plain rocked, was cool, and it was beautiful!
For number 12-I'd say the intro to the show, Kim Possible. It was hip and catchy! I loved it to death!!! I could sing along with while watching it, I knew it word for word! It had comedy, action, and fun! All things KP!!! :D (but seriously this song is super catchy, I can get it stuck in my head for a whole 24 hours after listening to it once)
For number 11-Mighty Ducks, as funny as that show sounded, it was actually pretty good! And the opening music just plain flat out KICKED BUTT!!!.....another thing.....DUCKS ROCK!!!! XD
For number 10-the first Pokemon theme song. Now, like Sailor Moon, I grew out of Pokemon. I lost interest. But to this day, I LOVE TO DEATH the opening theme to Pokemon, it sounds funny and dorky, I know, but it's just a song that I remember by heart since I was a kid. Plus face it....it's a classic.
For number 9-Thundercats. I grew out of this show, like others...but my gosh....this opening to this day I still can get stuck in my head....and deep down the little geek in me can't help but squee.
For number 8-Animaniacs oh heck yes!!!!!! I loved this show to death! It was clever, and funny! And the intro to this show perfectly illustrates that! It was also fun and catchy!
For number 7 -the original X-men opening. This song was a powerhouse of AWESOME! There is just so much epic, it makes your brain go splode! And it gets stuck in your head, you just will hum it and hum it! My goodness! I would also tie this slot with the original 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme....problem I don't have a clip with the song+animation on youtube because they are all either some dumb fanmade crap, or deleted, or something is blocked to keep you from watching and enjoying it! DX.....but yeah. X-men and TMNT!!! Hands down!
For number 6-Digimon. I'm guilty of STILL watching seasons1-3. (I do not acknowledge seasons4-5....hated them) And the very original opening...sorry haters, but THAT was huge in my childhood, and something I'll never let go til the day I die!!! I LOVED THE AMERICAN THEME!!! It was fun to listen too, it was cool, had that cool techno beat that totally fit in with the DIGITAL monsters feel, the show was by far more epic than Pokemon *is bricked*, it was catchy, easy to listen to, not to mention...fun and easy to remember.

And the other seasons following after sucked...and I loved this song so much, so I was mad they never used it again afterwords....MORONS!!!! But out of these 3 seasons, the first is my favorite as is the openings to the first-for they started it all 8D
For number 5-Batman Beyond, oh my gosh, it was dark, edgy, epic, cool, and AMAZING!!! The animation was spectacular!!! I fangirl over this opening so much it's ridculous!!!
For number 4-Batman and Superman TAS are tied. I just LOVE these openings! They were DCAU's first big superhero shows. And they both captured the essence of Batman (for batman tas) and Superman (in superman tas) perfectly. Batman's song was epic, but dark and gothic! Superman's was epic, but also captured the light and patriotic essence of Superman! The music fit both series like a glove! And I geek out about them to this day!!!
For number 3-Probably the greatest cartoon Disney ever created. (some would feel this show was Disney's answer to Batman TAS) And if you've never seen it, GO TO YOUTUBE AND WATCH IT NAAAAAOOOOOOO!!!! D8 I'm talking...about.....GARGOYLES!!!! This show was very deep, beautiful, but also mature, dark and gothic. Like with DCAU's series (all of them), Disney took kids very seriesouly with this show...we were treated like we HAD BRAINS! And this song just reflects the deep and profound beauty (+dark+epicness+awesome+FREAKING AMAZING) of the series. I mean, wow, it still sends shivers up my backbone!!! (and Keith David has one epic voice!!!)
For number 2-The New Batman Superman Adventures. Granted this wasn't an acutally TV show. It was when DCAU would do an crossover episode with Batman TAS and Superman TAS. But I have to say, this opening for these episodes, are so dang incredible! It really captures the heart of the "World's Finest" Superheroes in comic book history! I do get chills and shivers every time I watch this opening on youtube!!! The animation and music is beautiful, and I get such a huge case of nostalgia every time watching it.
For number 1.............hands down....ROCK THE DRAGON for DBZ!!!! OH....MY....HOLY.....FREAKING....CRAP!!!!! This thing practically drooled EPIC WIN!!!!!!!!! 8D
Before I explain...I'm not really a fan of the Ocean Dub of DBZ, I mean, I am very thankful to Ocean Dub-they are the ones that brought DBZ here to me in my childhood FIRST (second they gave me the MOST EPIC OPENING IN THE HISTORY OF EPIC)...
I'm more of a fan of the funimation DBZ dub, simply because the actors sounded better (some of the voices in O.D. were kinda annoying-not that they couldn't act-most of them could-some of them just sounded weird). And Funimation did give us some epic music for DBZ too.....I very much perfer the english DBZ because one-it's my childhood, two-the music just felt more fitting-(it was hardcore stuff man), and the voices just felt more age appropriate. (Goku, Krillin, and Vegeta souned very weird to me....nothing against japan, they're awesome, DBZ is just one of those things I perfer english because that's how I grew up hearing them).
But not even Funimation/Toonami's DBZ intro (as awesome as that guitar solo was) no where NEAR as awesome as the Ocean English Dub-Rock the Dragon Opening!.....
I mean HOLY CRAP!!! I remember....to this day, when I first watched DBZ....when that opening started-hearing that guitar...followed by that voice-"DRAGON-BALL-Z!!!!!!!!!!"
As a child, I had no idea what fangirling or geeking out was....but oh man....did I expierence it head on! The moment that music came on-seeing the dragon, I knew THIS WAS GONNA BE THE MOST EPIC FEST OF EPIC I'D EVER SEEN!!!
My jaw, literally DROPPED when I was watching the opening. I turned to my brother, gaped mouth, and said, "Jordie, THIS IS TOTALLY SUPER AMAZING!!!! 8DDDDDDD" Probably my first expierence with fangirling! XD
Tune into later....with WORST cartoon openings in the history....(feel free to send me suggestions on what you found to be the worst. I'm probably gonna do a top 10, but if you have any ideas of what you hated, then hey, I'm all ears)
