So on New Year’s Eve, when James tripped on a mislaid Christmas cracker and landed in Teddy’s lap, he was fooling no one. Luckily, the adults were still at the dinner table, and the kids gathered were tipsy enough to not notice. So Teddy just laughed and teased James about hitting the punch a little too hard and decided to play along. No one was looking. He kept his hands on James hips while the sounds of the party swirled around them. James squirmed, leaning back onto Teddy’s chest. His hair tickled Teddy chin, his weight pressing against him in all the right ways. It was getting past the point of deniability now, but the lights were low and Teddy was a little buzzed himself.
Teddy’s breath grew a little ragged as James shifted just so. Dangerous, yes, but James Potter was never clumsy.

Merlin woke with a start. His skin was tight and hot, a sudden shock of pain snapping him out of his lazy dream. The sun was low now in the sky, and a long shadow creep across his chest. He blinked up to recognize Mr. Pendragon down at him.
“Shit.” Merlin gasped.
