Potter, potter, potter.
I went to the library tonight and got to talking with one of the librarians about the series of 7 bookmarks being released to promote the new Harry Potter book. So far there are two. The first asks "Who will live? Who will die?" and the newest is "Is Snape good or evil?"
I had no idea this was such a tightly controlled campaign. There were detailed instructions for deploying the bookmarks with many bolded and capped lines for emphasis. All seven packs of bookmarks were in the box, but there will be no opening of them until pre-set dates coinciding with updates to Scholastic's website.
She has far more moral fiber than I could muster in this situation. I'm generally an honest person, but have no doubt that I would have opened every envelope and rolled around gleeful and nekkid in the contents by now. Unfortunately since I live two doors down from the library I have to live with the knowledge that there are secret bookmarks thirty paces from my home. And I know their exact location. I sincerely doubt that there's anything squeeworthy about them but the secrecy gives them a certain allure.
