I finished The Lovely Bones in one night. Couldn't put it down.

So now I'm browsing Ye Olde Bookshelves trying to figure out what I want to read.

I really, really should read The Chronicles of Narnia since I have to take a final exam on it, but I know those books backwards and forwards. :(

Zomg, a curfew o__O! I think he is getting to be a little possessive. He is passing on the traditional treatment of women in Islam =/ "Don't go anywhere. You stay here. Don't talk to this person."

I'm 20 and my only forbidden thing is to leave the house without getting married, as well as the other Islamic beliefs. Marrying someone I don't fucking know isn't going to help me =/

Good sex is a necessity if a marriage is going to work. I mean even once you've been married for oh-so-long (however long that is, it's different for every couple - for the sake of argument let's say five years), and you never have sex anymore, at least you know when you DO it will be good. :D

Okay, moving along. Yes, he is getting more possessive. I think he's thinking, "If I stick around more, we're more likely to bond, and if I am not there, she is more likely to get into trouble, and if she does it will be my fault because I am her husband."

Problem with that way of thinking is, he makes me sound and feel like a kid. Likewise, never going out and having "me" time makes me resentful and angry. So the cycle goes.

Haha. No :( Any intimacy before marriage is a total taboo.
BUT...Muslim men get away with that, and the girls do NOT. It's another stereotype in Islam, gender inequality.
If fornication was committed by either gender, it should be taboo for BOTH of them, not just for the "shy-virgin-girl". And that is Islamic law, but MANY Muslim families do not raise their kids this way..
I hope Allah will punish all of these Muslim families that claim they are religious, but they fail to raise both genders equally.. This causes tons of problems in the long run.

My brother leaves the house at like 1 in the morning to "go see friends" and then comes back at 4 in the morning. Nobody says a damn thing. If I were to do that shiet, I would be a total shame. He constantly makes noise (burps, farts, coughs obsessively, plays music) and nobody says anything =/

Double standards are in every family.

My mother raised me to be a feminist..and when I turned 17 and my brother turned 17 (well actually he's my step but whatever), he had NO curfew at all whatsoever, and I did. He's only 7 months older than me! I asked why I did and he didn't and she looked at me and in all seriousness said, "because you're the girl."

Trust me, it is not an Arab thing.

'Course I did get preggers at 18 so I guess the curfew wouldn't have been a bad idea...if I'd actually followed it.

Re: sex before marriage.

My opinion (not that you asked for it) is this:

If I sleep with a guy before I marry him and he dumps me for committing zina and calls me a tramp or whatever, he's an asshole AND a hypocrite.

And I'd rather know he's an asshole before I marry him than after!
