Konya mo nemurenai
That corner was epic.
I was kind of worried before watching it. I kind of didn't like what Sanma has been doing since the beginning of the year. I didn't like that he kept giving half statements and ambiguous information about the smap situation that could make the fans worry and feed tabloids articles, when the members themselves made it clear that they couldn't speak yet. But, knowing Sanma and his deep relationships with smap, I didn't go to the point of disliking him because of this. I decided that I wouldn't form an opinion about it and that smap themselves are the only ones who could judge if he was doing something hurtful for them. So I just waited for their next interactions, or lack of interactions.
I'm sure many people wouldn't approve what Sanma said and would be angry against him. I think Nakai knows it too and he probably was worried about it, because at some point he said "Smap fans like Sanma-san a lot". But the fact is, they passed the right messages. Sanma was talking non stop and being reckless, ignoring all the NGs. Nakai, as expected, was very careful and talked only few chosen words. But with those opposite styles, they got the key words delivered:
- Sanma pointing out the weirdness of the current smap situation: no releases, no concert, no music shows, despite this year being their 25th anniversary
- Nakai saying clearly that there are no problems within smap, no factions. He kept saying that they are "Daijoubu".
- Sanma stating that his information about the situation didn't come from Kimura.
- Sanma namedropping Michi, and Nakai saying "She's probably watching right now" <3
- Sanma namedropping Arashi, and Nakai saying "Please keep supporting them". It's a confirmation of his message from Samuga just before the mess, when he played Arashi and J-friends songs in his radio and talked about how much he liked them, and said "if anyone is mad, they should come to my house". It was his way to tell us not to hate on the kouhai groups even if smap got into a war against J&A.
I loved when Nakai said that only him was allowed to make fun of smap fans and sanma wasn't allowed to do it. He's always defending us against other talents XD
My favourite moment was when Sanma made the female announcers choose between him and smap members and they chose Kimura. And Nakai was like "Isn't this the right answer?". As expected from Nakai, the guardian of the Kimura Takuya Legend :D
Also when Nakai kept butchering Nishino Kana's Darling, and Sanma said that not releasing CDs was the right thing to do, but Nakai answered that it's all right because the other members are covering for him <3
And then Sanma confirmed that Kimura must be watching the show, not that we needed a confirmation, lol.
It's amazing that they also talked to Becky on the phone. She sounded really happy because of this unexpected form of support. You can't expect less from these two.
I feel bad for the show's staff, I'm sure they were panicking all the time XD It was damn hilarious though and had a lot of impact so Fuji has nothing to complain about, not with their current shows' quality and ratings, lol.
I'm using this journal to keep a record on the things happening in 2016, the people who supported smap, my thoughts and feelings as a fan. I want to record how Sanma did today something only Sanma could do. I'm sure there will be tabloid articles twisting their words, and others commanded by Mary/Julie to deflate the impact just like what happened with the music shows issue. But it doesn't matter. We already got used to that :)
