Title: The Borrowers.
Author: Mary Norton.
Genre: Fiction, children's lit, fantasy.
Country: U.K.
Language: English.
Publication Date: 1952.
Summary: The Borrowers - the Clock family: Homily, Pod, and their fourteen-year-old daughter, Arrietty, to be precise - are tiny people who live underneath the kitchen floor of an old English country manor. All their minuscule home furnishings, from postage stamp paintings to champagne cork chairs, are “borrowed” from the “human beans” who tromp around loudly above them. All is well until Pod is spotted upstairs by a human boy! Can the Clocks stay nested safely in their beloved hidden home, or will they be forced to flee?

My rating: 8/10

♥ "The child is right," she announced firmly.

Arrietty's eyes grew big. "Oh, no-" she began. It shocked her to be right. Parents were right, not children. Children could say anything, Arrietty knew, and enjoy saying it - knowing always they were safe and wrong.

♥ Kate glared at her. "All right," she said, "go on."

Mrs. May looked back at her. "Kate," she said after a moment, "stories never really end. They can go on and on and on. It's just sometimes, at a certain point, one stops telling them."
