Summary: Blood may be thicker than water, but it isn't thicker than money. That's something the Del Toros - the vampire clan that runs organized crime in Miami - know all too well. Beautiful, rich and immortal, these bloodsuckers are masters of backstabbing and fighting - and when their patriarch Eduardo is killed, the fangs really come out. Youngest son Leto vowed to leave his family's sins behind when he became a priest, and his ambitious sister Risa would be happy to keep it that way. But Eduardo's will names Leto as his successor, leaving Daddy's little girl on the sidelines and putting Leto's faith to the test. But while faith might move mountains, it won't necessarily move hearts and minds - and before this story is finished, Leto and Risa will find out more about the limits of power, faith and appetite than they ever wanted to know.

My review:

♥ Vampires - the real deal, as opposed to the Transylvanian fantasy variety, are blessed with an enhanced immune system, giving them unearthly stamina, near-immortality, and almost superhuman strength... Traits that are particularly useful in the career of mobsters, thugs and hitmen. But one of the downsides of these gifts is a hormonal hysteria that frequently borders on the downright berserk, particularly among Betas, vampires who've never been human to begin with. So their rage is untempered by anything so queasy as a mortal memory. Let alone a mortal soul.
