My rating: 5/10
My Review: Not having grown up with Dr. Seuss, I don't have much sentimentality or warm fuzzy feelings connected with him which, I feel, would have very much softened my perception of this book. Having come across his most famous book at a fairly old age, I found it really, really disturbing and unpleasant. The cute rhymes did nothing to cover up how incredibly creepy the cat came off. It wasn't a fun, harmless frolic - it was an irritating book about a huge asshole that bursts into someone else's home, destroys it, and all the while comes off as an adult saying incredibly suggestive and inappropriate things to small children.
