Really. I was on the phone for two hours tonight. I didn't think that was going to happen, but then I called my sister and ended up talking to her for ninety minutes because she went all existential crisis on me. Not really an existential crisis, of course, she's just feels like she's getting sick of NYC and is starting to think she might want to move somewhere else. "it's like I'm working too hard to be happy here. I feel like I'm just hitting my head against a wall." She finally has friends but she doesn't have any time to spend with them. She eventually wants to find someone to have a meaningful relationship and the odds are completely against her. She feels trapped and sick of NYC and I guess she woke up to someone getting hit by a car outside of her apartment yesterday and is just... sick of living there. Her boss sucks and she works like... 60-hour weeks (not getting paid for overtime), which is better than the 70+ hours she worked before (basically, the fashion industry - and Ralph Lauren - works its designers to death, too). I hope things get better. She's coming home for like ten days at Christmas and I'm super excited... last year she came home for two, haha.
Anyway, it's weird - I talk to her on the phone more than my parents, and probably more than kevin, because I talk to him so much online. She asks me for advice, which is hilarious since she's seven years older. I can tell her anything. Holy fuck I love having a sister... we used to hate each other, and I barely even remember her being around while she was in high school, but now it's more like having the best "best friend" imaginable. This is corny. I wonder where she'll move, if she does... it sounded like her main option was California, so I guess LA or San Francisco. I'll miss visiting her in NYC :/
So Fall Break was fantastic, and so were Seattle and Alice and Alice's family and everything else. I love going new places more than almost anything else in the world... it's like the adult version of Christmas morning. I drank lots of coffee and made a ton of asian candy conquests at the Uwajimaya. The perfect weekend.
I'm kind of freaked out for my Comparative Politics midterm Thursday. I... need to study. LIKE OMG.
And starting on the train...
so there you have it. Some of Seattle in a nutshell.
