"I have set my rainbow int he clouds, nad it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth."
Genesis 9:13
So... I went to Schenectady, New York for the Easter weekend to see my grandma and my mom's family. However... I made a big mistake and booked my Easter flight for 6:15 AM instead of 6:15 PM. Anyway- everything worked out and my aunts and uncles and cousins came over on Saturday and we had Easter then. Then I got up at 3:30 this morning, took a cab to the airport and flew back here. The weekend was really nice... not super EASY, but nice, and my cousins are so cute!!! AN
So- big scary story that brings the Bible verse into play-- As an English major and a generally frightened person I tend to see symbolism and signs in things. Anyway- this morning it was cold and stormy, and I kept hearing bells tolling (actually- they were probably just ringing, but in my nervous head they were TOLLING) and it was a red sunrise-- you know the rhyme "red sky at morning, sailors' warning." But I got on the plane. Long story short we hit some really bad turbulance.. the plane was jerking around, the flight attendant (there was only one since it was such a small plane) had to sit down for the whole flight- and we were rocking back and forth. I was getting pretty nervous.. babies were crying.. people were starting to freak out a little and the flight attendant came on the speaker and said, "Don't worry everyone, it's just like going to Six Flags, but more expensive." But I was still getting nervous- and I was praying and praying, so I look out my window down onto the clouds, and the rising sun behind the plane cast a shadow onto the clouds... but the amazing part was that the entire shadow of the plane was encircled by a rainbow-- and it was so bright and vivid that I couldn't stop looking at it. The rainbow is a sign of hope and peace to come, and I figure, if it's good enough for Noah, it's good enough for me. I thought it was cool.
Happy Easter!!!
