All these poetry posts have revived my forgotten love of GMH! I had forgotten all about this poem, and I used to love it, especially the "little low heavens" line. Blissful.

Unfascinating trivia fact: he's buried in the same cemetary as my great-grandparents.

along with the juicy line everybody loves, I adore:

shoot long and lovely and lush and it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing

yesyes! post poems! yay!

i really liked "shoot long and lovely and lush" but i figured that's just because i abuse "and" chains when i write, so i was searching for justification ;)
