But a couple of minutes ago, while I was reading with Nook on PC (because the bf has the physical device) the thing announced it had an update. What? How did it know that?

So I opened Skype up and sure enough, the internet was back on! It's a miracle!

Yay, it is... actually pretty miserable here in south Mississippi. Hot hot hot.  Especially when you need your transmission fixed and you almost pass out trying to do it yourself.
