Adventures in Breadmaking

Jul 11, 2011 18:26

So, I'm trying to get stuff together right? We've been working our butts off to try to get everything cleared out and cleaned up. Well, I came across a complete set of cast iron cookware I had been given ages ago at the same time I was given a bag of accidentally bought all purpose flour.

So I thought, no knead bread sounds fabulous to make.

Well, it tasted good, which is good.  Better than I was expecting from a first time trying anything.

The circumstances was working against me. The oven was new, my pot was new, the recipe was new and I have never made bread before in Hattiesburg. The closest I've come to baking since I've gotten here was blueberry muffins from a box, LOL.

But I'm not giving up! I have figured out where to tweak the recipe and will be sharing as soon as it comes out the way I want. :)

Anyway, on Sunday my MIL gave me a mixing bowl (70s Pyrex SQUEE) and now instead of trying to combine ingredients in a tea pitcher (yes, I told you my house is a disaster), I can actually get the wet/dry ratio right :D

Wish me luck on my 2nd try of no-knead bread!

awesome, thrifty habits, why yes i am awesome, crosspost, less than three, adventures in the country
