xXmarghieeXx: Oh. Someone at Marist thought I was Jewish.
xXmarghieeXx: Kind of like when I was at mass at Kearney, not getting communion, all "Hey. I'm Greek Orthodox" and some idiot inevitably went "So, what's it like celebrating Hannukah."
Inevitably, around this time of the year [and in December], someone assumes I'm Jewish.
It's the last name that confuses people, I'm pretty sure. Thanks, Dad.
So, yesterday, as I left Marist, someone wished me a "happy passover." Which would have been highly considerate.....if I was Jewish.
Of course, I'm not going to let someone keep assuming I practice Judaism because that's just false.
So my reply was "Oh...I'm not Jewish."
And his reply was "Oh. I'm sorry. Happy easter."
That time, I didn't bother to correct him. That's something I've gotten used to.
Starting Sunday is the one week out of the year that I go back to church/religion as a whole...or even my cultural identity. I guess that kinda ties into the whole Judaism confusion. More on this when I feel like it.
