I saw Milk on Friday night and it was really great. I've never seen a Sean Penn film, i don't think, but he was amazing. As was Emile Hirsch. I've always liked him and it was funny seeing him in that role.

And i guess i just never really thought about it, but it really is awful how badly gays were treated back then. And even though it's obvious how far society has come with accepting them, it really made me wonder if people would be as accepting of say, an openly gay presidential candiate, or if having an openly gay running mate could cost someone their election.

It was also interesting how this film sort of mirrored all the hoopla going on with Prop 8. I can only hope that in 25-30 years (hopefully not even that long) we can look back at the banning of gay marriage and wonder how we could have been so closed minded, the way we look back at their Prop 6 and are amazed that people thought gays shouldn't be allowed to teach.
