obligatory Lure of Facebook post

Mar 16, 2010 12:32

And as happens to everyone, I have fallen prey to the ease of Facebook updates. Such is life online, where yesterday's hot thing becomes today's drudgery and chore...

But the other reason I haven't updated much lately is that I'm doing pretty well overall and don't have much of a reason to post 'I'm OK' messages all the time. I had such a terrific birthday party and weekend that I'm still quite mellow from it, which is very nice. I'm sure I'll have more drama to post about soon enough, but not right now.

N's grandpa on his father's side is extremely dyslexic, to the point where he has to memorize even his own notes to give a talk, and he's been panicking about a random remark that N. made about not doing so well in reading. N. reads fine for a 1st grader, although he's definitely still learning, but he's showing NO signs of dyslexia. Grandpa has decided, however, that since he's dyslexic, his grandson must be as well, and he's worked himself up into a major state because his step-daughters' kids are all dyslexic as well, so that means that N. probably is too (if this makes no sense to you, you're not alone - these are step-cousins, not blood-related to N. at ALL). So A. spent a half-an-hour on the phone with his dad Sunday trying to calm him down, and then an hour on the phone yesterday with his step-mother, trying to calm HER down about it (or rather that there's no 'it' to get stressed about). It's always something.

Although it occurs to me that even if N. IS dyslexic, their panicking about it does not help at all.

me, update
