A boy's first Fourth

We just got back from seeing the fireworks that the Town puts on. We had great Small Town Syndrome - saw lots of people we knew from here and there, lots of A's co-workers that he teased mercilessly about them working and him not, a truly awful rendition of God Bless America, and some terrific fireworks. They were a bit startling at first, as they cut the lights and shot off the first blast at the last note of the anthem, but the boy was awed, overwhelmed, and delighted, so that was good.
On the way out, we ran in to one of his best friends from day care, who he hadn't seen since the xmas break from school. They recognized each other immediately, and were talking away like it had only been a day since they last saw each other. We shall set up a play date.

I'm very mildly sunburnt (barely enough to register, really), on the bits of my shoulders that show in a tank top. I guess I've been wearing them more lately than ever before in my life, if they burn that easily.

friends, family
