I finished my second piece on the inkle loom last night
(and completely forgot that I had flicked pictures last week). It came out quite well, and while I was working on it I thought a lot about warp-faced weaves and even weaves and what makes each one happen. Now, to the two or three weaving experts who occasionally browse my writings, I'm sure that you've already got this knowledge in your cranium, but I don't, or at least not on a more-than-theoretical level. Anyway, I've figured out that heddle type is very important, so to that end I asked the spousal unit to saw up my 10-inch plastic heddle that was just hanging around not doing anything. I now have three heddles of about 3.3 inches each, and I started threading using one of them and separate warps. I realize that I do not have a reed, and that the reed is pretty critical for getting even weave, but I'll be meditating on that. Now I'm wondering, before I even finish warping, if it's possible to do a continuous warp with the rigid heddle. Man, I should have bought this inkle loom a decade ago. I am having more fun with this thing.
