In spite of everything (a plugged drain in the site kitchen, having to cook frozen meats (thank all the Powers that Be for electric roasters!), having the microwave trip its circuit not once but over..and over..and *sigh*..over) the feast went really well. I do wish we'd had a second oven, but hey..you can't have everything. Everything that went out was tasty, and I was glad I could help:)
Besides, I miss my SCA family, from the girls, to Duchess Eilis, Her Majesty, Annora..so it was a good chance to see people, even if briefly, and certainly well worth driving down and going back the same day. And quite honestly, it was lovely to fall into my own bed and sleep ever so soundly until I had to get up and get to work.
I wish I'd not had to go in. It reminded me why I was there, instead of Jean. I got a call from Kathleen..Gary had had a stroke. Jean, bless her, has spent a good deal of time with Kathleen at the hospital, which is why I was at work yesterday. Gary's reached the Endgame. No more surgeries, and we have no idea how much time he has left. So each day is infinitely precious.
Ya'll mind that, please. No matter how bad it is, no matter how dark things may look, each day is all any of us have. One day to do the best we can to make Life a good thing.
I love you all.
