Here are pictures from the first day of the dig...





Kyle and Matt sifting dirt for artifacts.




Opening and clearing of the original pit opened by UMSL. Who, incidentally, suck at closing up pits. It was in awful condition.




And here are the two pits we re-opened!

After two weeks, here is where we are at:




Notice that we've pretty much doubled the size.




Jim smiles for me. He was my pit partner a lot during the dig, he and his wife, Duey. Duey wasn't there on the last day, though.




Here's my section, where Jim and I worked the last two days of the dig, and we found the best artifact so far, a nice piece of rim pottery...




And here she is! See the decoration line on it? This is a really nice piece, especially for something about 2000 years old.

And thus, my two weeks of digging have ended. I told Susanna to email or call me if they're short on people for a day, because I already miss it. It was a great experience, even if I did have to get up at 6 AM every day. :-P
