I've been doing a lot of thinking about what I want to do after I graduate. Because honestly, there's nothing I can do to get a job in my field with my degree - religious studies. As much as I enjoy it and it makes me happy, being a scholar, I wouldn't be able to get a job until I got my PhD and the competitions incredibly fierce even with the PhD ( Read more... )

Oh, I understand the job-thing! I don't have any degree, but I've certainly got occupational issues. I've done miscellaneous jobs over the years. Office work, outside work, factory work. Currently, I'm in the manufacturing sector. It's not bad money when things are going, but I am sick to death of the layoffs and downsizing everytime the economic wind blows 2mph. I need to get out of manufacturing - badly.

There is a wonderful chef school right here in Michigan, and pretty cheap too. Schoolcraft college in Livonia has one of the best food programs in the country from what I understand, and I think 5 of about 50 Master Chefs in the country. At least that's what they told me a few years ago when I was looking at Schoolcraft. Sorry I don't have a website handy for you, but if you think you're interested I could spend some time looking them up for you.

I must agree with David, but being also one of 'the Belgian friends' (we're even better then the Belgian fries if I do say so myself *insert funny smiley here*) I feel it is my duty to poke you and say: "Belgium chef school!" *poke* LOL

I'm kidding, I'm kidding! I'm all the way with David here. And here's me rooting for your writing career too *root root*

If I can talk Mark into going, I'd go to chef school there but I don't think the classes are in English. -.- We'll just have to learn dutch and flemish and get there. >_>

Just helping you to force your decision on the Belgian "Chef-school"
Belgium being the culinary center of the Universe, as we had in our history the Italian , the French and the German influence on cooking.
Belgians evolved to be masters on using the best of every experience and using it to create our unique mixture in foodpreparations.
You've got to learn from the best to becom the best.
