Tomorrow is my Kansas-Spain friend's birthday. Happy Birthday! I don't think I'll have much time to post in my journal tomorrow, so it's getting written today. Tomorrow is going to be busy. Between donating plasma (I just started up again yesterday after being deferred for 8 weeks, and I can definently use the money it'll provide again) and then going out to dinner and then going out bowling and then after all that - I get to clean the house! Yay! Sometimes I hate cleaning. But my parents are having their friends over on Saturday for dinner and they might be here sometime early afternoon, so I can't procrastinate on the cleaning until Saturday unless I want to wake up early and do it then, but I'm not so good with mornings these days, so I think I'll do it in the wee hours of the early morning/late night. And then on Sunday the house has to be clean again for my grandparents coming over. Blah. I love seeing family and I enjoy seeing my parents friends because they're cool people, but I hate cleaning. But it pays the bills, and I really need those bills paid off. I'm proud of myself - I've been steadily paying off my credit card bill over this summer (I had a $400 bill at the beginning of the summer, and when my plasma money suddenly disappeared it was not good news) and I've (mostly) only been spending money on buying presents for people (everyone would have their birthday or father's day or whatnot over the summer months when I'm most broke) and paying off the credit card bill. I've got the bill worked down to just a little over $100, which is doing good and if I continue to get in some plasma money now I'll be able to pay off the credit card before the next bill comes in.
By the way, I really had fun at the Pirates late-night showing. Unfortunately the video-game-pedophile was sick and so it was a bummer for her and she couldn't enjoy herself as much before the movie. But the rest of us had fun playing cards and then we chatted a bit and joked around and it was a good time. And Pirates 2 itself was... suprisingly (particularly for a disney movie!) good. Disney for some reason just does not do good second movies - sometimes they do decent, but most of the time they just blow. But this was really good. It was almost as good as the first movie - I say almost because it ended in the middle of the story and that just disappoints the hell out of me. I mean, I'm excited that there will be a third movie that will probably be as good as the first two, but I hate the wait! Because you know it's going to be another couple years before the third movie will come out. It's not like the Lord of the Rings movies where you knew you'd only (only! ha! even that wait was bad) until the next movie would come out. And I'm not even sure it'll be as regular as the Harry Potter movies which come out every year and a half. No, sadly, I think this will probably be another two years or so. And this depresses me. But I'm still excited to see the third movie! Eek! Anyway, the second movie rocked. It was funny, it brought back all of my favorite characters (all of them! I was amazed) it had some great action scenes and some fun romance going on and the plot was fascinating and is proving to be a bit complex (else there wouldn't be a second movie, no?).
I really really really want to go see it again. It's not even been a week since I saw Pirates 2 the first time, but now I really want to see it again. Oh! And if anyone's seen it - did you stay after the credits to see the mini-scene at the end? That poor dog....
I also found it amusing that half of the people in the group I went to see the movie with didn't know that the first movie had a scene at the end which explained why the monkey is still undead in the second movie. Jack shooting the monkey throughout the movie just cracked me up. I love extra scenes - they rock my world. I made my friends wait through the credits to check if there was a scene, and I was happy when there was. I just hate waiting through all the credits to get to it, because those credits go on forever and ever and ever. But it's amusing to read the credits sometimes to see who they put in there, like in Pirates 2 they apparently put Johnny Depp's driver in the credits.
Jury duty is next week. I've mostly been not thinking about it. Maybe I wont get called in at all. But I probably will. I'm not dreading jury duty, but I'm also not looking forward to it, because I don't know what it'll be like. Plus I'll have to get up early in the morning. And that blows. Me and my sleep. My parents have been on vacation the last two weeks and they move around early and make a fair amount of noise and then I've also been getting calls at around 9am for the last three days in a row that have been disrupting my sleep and it just sucks. I want my sleep, dammit! I'm a sleep-aholic. And I've gotten addicted to staying up until at least 2am or later. Usually later. Heh. After the pirates movie I stayed up until past 5am and my mom woke up and saw me and was like "why are you still up? it's waking time, not just getting to bed time." Truth was I'd drank too much mountain dew at the movie and since I don't normally have caffeine, drinking about a liter or two of mountain dew in a few hours time just kinda shocks the system a bit.
My parents went down to Branson for Monday and Tuesday as part of their vacation and stayed in a hotel down there. I went down with them for the beginning of monday and we went to a butterfly place (I think it was Butterfly Palace, but I dont' really remember). It was cool to see all the butterflies flying around, though sadly it seemed like half of them were sleeping than flying. But my parents got a lot of good pictures and frames some of them to go in the living room for the butterfly theme. We each got a t-shirt (mine rocks, of course) and so it was fun. They also had a monopoly game there, called Dogopoly (they had one for cats and birds too) in which they had the board done out with dog properties and the jail was the kennel and instead of 'just visiting' around the jail it had 'just sniffing.' And instead of community chest and whatnot, they had 'good dog' and 'bad dog' cards. and other spaces that went to things like 'vet bill' and so forth. It amused me. I really wanted to buy it - but alas, no money. One of these days perhaps...
Summer's starting to head into that downward slide and I'm sad. Hopefully it'll last a while longer. Tomorrow will be fun. I'm hoping that those invited to bowling will be able to make it. But it's sort of last minute invites, so who knows.
