Why must North Dakota do these things???

Why does my state have to do idiotic crap like this? Huh?! The domestic partnership law was bad enough.

Apparently the North Dakota house passed a bill to "protect any organism with the human genome". Apparently, they're attempting to make abortion legal and take it to the Supreme Court. Hey, we gotta budget surplus, let's let all those tax and spend Republicans spend it on all those poor, underpaid lawyers in our state!

*facepalm*

This is obviously not a well-thought out bill (although, for the life of me, I can't seem to find the number or the actual text). First, an organism is something that lives without dependence on another organism, at least by scientific standards. Of course, we all know that science is really determined in the courtrooms and not the laboratories, so I'm sure someone will say that embryos are organisms regardless. Second, this makes anyone using any birth control method other than a barrier method guilty of abortion. Finally, if you have a miscarriage, you may have to defend yourself in court to establish why your biology failed to support that other organism if the stupid version of the "definition" of organism flies.

At this point, it still has to pass the senate, so I'm going to urge all my friends to contact their senators and vote down this nonsense.

abortion, stupid people, north dakota
