Oh day...

How did I waste thee? Let me count the ways.

1 - Spending too much time on the internet.

The fact that I have only one way can only begin to describe how this was an abysmally huge time drain.

On the other hand, I managed the following:

1 - Went to doctor. Feeling better already. I am starting to get my voice back.

2 - I got a simulation of my experimental antenna up and running...and for a change, it seemed to be converging on a solution. We upgraded to a new version of software and installed the new software on the new computer-zilla. It's still running slow, but when I go into tomorrow morning, I may actually have an answer.

This was my proof-of-concept antenna that was so small for the wavelength I'm using, the computer couldn't mesh the model fine enough to actually look for a solution given the memory my computer had. They got a simulation server a couple months ago, and it seems like it's actually able to complete the simulation. I guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

If it works, I will have something substantive for that chapter of my thesis...more than just "using principles A, B, and C, I developed this design. I unfortunately can't given you more than a couple experimental results to show how it works, though."

(Fortunately, this was not the guts of my thesis...)

3 - Took older son to violin. He's improving really fast!

4 - Older son's architecture course arrived today, so we went through that. He's very stoked. I am, too. There's a program that he will apparently be using to do projects for the course. One of the things you can do is use it to design decks...I'm SO using that when he's done. :-)

Here's hoping I feel better tomorrow and can get a good chunk of writing done.

antenna, older son, health
