CONCEPT

Pelagia is young mermaid recently outcast by her motley after breaking the Human Interference Law, resulting in the near loss of a holy site when the young men she saved brought scientists and reporters to find her. Pela is attempting to make up for her error and subsequent exile (which is partly being enforced by her own stubbornness) by enlisting land-walker aid in thwarting Project: Deepwater, a corrupt government institution that ruthlessly experiments on marine life, and whose influence threatens the entire ocean -- especially all of its supernatural residents.

ADVANTAGES
BACKGROUNDS

Treasures: •
Mentor: ••
Title/Royal Lineage: All of House Syrinx is of a potential ruling station by birth, but none of them care very much because that equates to a lot of royals running around. It gives a slight boost up in politics.
ARTS

Sovereign: ••
Protocol allows a caster to enforce the protocol of the court, which means the target must obey those rules, too.
Dictum forces the victim to obey all of the caster's commands (with awareness), provided the caster outranks them.
Aphrodisia: ••
Yearn causes the victim to begin longing for a target of the spellcaster's design, but they remain rational.
Covet causes the victim to begin obsessing over a target of the spellcaster's design. The victim may not remain rational.
Kryos: ••••
Cold Shock makes a target bitterly and painfully cold; described as "an ice cream headache from hell."
Frost Facsimile creates a tangible item out of ice, including weapons and tools; the sturdiness of this item varies.
Crystal Prison encases the intended target in a block of ice from head to toe, and may lead to suffocation.
Coldheart literally freezes someone from the inside out in a fashion akin to suspended animation.
Skycraft: •••••
Thunderclap induces a burst of loud, abrupt thunder from nowhere that can temporarily deafen someone and frighten foes.
Compass Winds causes, surprise, surprise, wind. The winds can be enough to push a ship over, and up to 90 miles an hour.
Dark Sky permits the caster to cloak a stealth-seeking friend in darkness, or leave an enemy helplessly trapped in thick fog.
Stormcraft summons a terrible storm with an ominously human appearance, such as a sneering human face in the stormclouds.
Call Lightning is a spell in the caster uses her own body as a channel for a lightning bolt in order to fry her victim.

BOONS & FRAILTIES

Frailties: More than any other merfolk, the members of House Syrinx need the water. A member of Syrinx loses one Willpower point for every day that she does not spend at least an hour immersed in water.
Birthrights: Members of House Syrinx are more regal than other mer, and can command the creatures of the sea, although they are scrupulous with this gift.
DESCRIPTION

Pelagia is very tall, nearing six feet, with distinctively wild and curly blue-green hair, pale brown skin, and gold-brown eyes; when humans see her on the street, they see a light-complected black woman with an unique choice of coiffure. She generally tends to wear not much of anything, if she's permitted, and is especially adverse to shoes, but she likes jewelry, and collects it rapidly only to abandon it a few days later.
