Incoming mermaid. She's had quite the eventful and informative day, though some of that information she will be keeping to herself. She enters the apartment via Nexus and checks, first, by listening for sound vibrations of movement or breathing, for whether James is also there ( Read more... )

The most obvious indicator is the fact the shower is running; James's coat and keys are abandoned in the living room, and he doesn't seem to have been home long.

(It is worth noting that evidently while they were both out, his housekeeper was in.)

Pelagia obviously sees no reason to knock or wait for him to get out of the shower; she has no clothes on, she can, presumably, join him just as easily. The water would be nice, anyway.

However, because she's not stupid, her footsteps aren't quiet on the floor and she doesn't disguise her presence. There are people you don't want to surprise too terribly much in their own home, even if you're a warrior woman like Pela, and James Bond is one of them.

Particularly when you have a knack for agitating him in the first place, yes, that would be classified a bad idea. James, with his head under the water and his hands on the wall, doesn't take as long as someone else might to realize that he's not alone.

"Oh, it's you."

Pelagia steps inside, leaning on the wall behind the water--it's a little chilly for most people there, but she doesn't really feel the cold like everyone else does. Not today, anyway, with some of her glamour restored.

"Were you expecting someone else?"

"Not tonight." And not in his flat, but that would be on the list of things he's not inclined to bring up or discuss. (Thanks, Felix.) "Need something?"

...she just laughs, quietly, at that.

James huffs quietly (like a cat rubbed the wrong way and grudgingly tolerating whoever did it), and leans back away from the wall. "Really."

"I just think it's funny," she says, mildly, except for how she is completely trolling him while getting her hair wet, "when I come in here with you and all you say is 'need something?' Anyway, I was in the Nexus, and it was strange."

She found that kind of endearing just now, though.

...all right, James can see the humour in being the only man around who'd respond to a mermaid slinking under his shower with an irritable 'what do you want'. "What a coincidence."

In fairness, this mermaid is also turning her back to him so she can snag some of the hot water for herself, too, so he might be within his rights to be annoyed. At least it's a reasonably decent view?

"I saw a man who looked exactly like you."

"I think I met his girlfriend. Aloysius Martel?"

"...Dessoir. Doctor." She sounds faintly distressed. How many James Bond lookalikes are there out there? At least the doctor seemed wholly different in temperament.

...the sound James makes is the ruefully irritable cousin of her distress.

She shrugs her shoulders, back to him still. "What was his girlfriend like? Dessoir seemed the scholarly, reserved type."

Despite similarities to less than reserved types.

"She was half-naked and flirting with me in Arabic. Pretty little thing, too." ...the fact she's attached likely wouldn't have have stopped him, so it's probably a good thing for all involved that he wasn't in the mood to try.

She turns to look at him over her shoulder, and rolls her eyes with a soft, cynical sounding huff, shifting all the way around to press her back to the shower wall again.

"Strange all around, this Nexus."
