Okay.  So I'm not a big Twilight fan. I kind of wish I were because I know so many people who are insane for the books (the same way I was once insane for HP, so I'm not judging anyone here, I'm just saying--some fans are insane), and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one missing out on a really great party, but whatever. I've tried, but the books just don't do it for me.

Having said that, though, I find myself most intrigued by the movie.  The stills, the trailer, the interviews.  I admit, they've definitely got my attention. So maybe if I'm not into the books, I can still get into the movies.  Even Kristen is excited about it, and she was so bitterly disappointed when Gaspard was not cast as Edward.  Yay for possibilities...

I saw Iron Man this weekend...and I liked it. I wasn't that excited about it when I saw the previews, so I wasn't rushing to the theater or anything for it, but Lonnie took the boys to see it on Saturday and absolutely loved it. They all came home saying it was the best superhero movie they'd ever seen. Better than Batman Begins, better the Spiderman (which I loved), better than anything they could think of to compare it to.

Well, if it was that good, I had to see it too, right?  So I went on Sunday evening.

More under the cut.  Not spoilery per se; just a review really...

I thought it was good.  RDJ is very snarky in it, which I always love, and the story of Iron Man is a little different than the reluctant hero who gets bit by a spider or is the victim of a freak experiment gone wrong or is the boy who comes to us from outer space because his world is beging destroyed or whose parents are killed, so he's inspired to serve and protect, all of whom sort of have greatness thrust upon them.  Iron Man isn't really all that likable a guy at first. He's brilliant, but he's completely selfish. Then he has life-altering experience that forces him to not just see the problem, but acknowledge how he's contributed to the problem, and then he has to make a choice.  That was an element to the story that I really liked.

Now having said all that, I was a little disappointed. After hearing such glowing reviews, not only from my husband and my sons, but also from my brother and my brother-in-law, I was expecting the BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER (which some will argue it was), and I thought it was just okay.  Good, but just okay.  I did like it, though.  It was all right.

I saw RDJ on Jay last night, and he was really funny.  (Not as funny as Craig Ferguson, but still pretty funny).  So yeah. There's my weekend in a nutshell.

Oh, and I can't wait to see the next Indiana Jones and Prince Caspian. The trailers look awesome.
