I have a situation for your perusal.
My sister-in-law love to read. She reads a book a day. She's a stay at home mom, that only works one or two days a week. Now she inhales books. She skims them. Oh, and she's always been a reader.
Myself of the other hand, I got into reading when I was in my mid-teens. I hated it before that. Bored me. But I found a book that was really interesting, and I got into it. So for me, I need books that get my attention right from the description and the cover.
I savor books. Take my time and enjoy them. I rarely let myself read a book in a day. Even two is pushing it. I'm also known to have about 5 books going at once. I get sick of one genre, and move on to the one that I'm in the mood for.
Now, she had nothing to read, some time ago. She asked me for books, and I gave her some. She kept on wanting more, and I would give them to her as she asked.
Then she started pushing her books on me. Now, she reads only one style of book. (When she buys them herself of takes them out of the library.) One genre. And her books aren't really about stuff I'm really itching to read. Frankly...I find them a bit dull. Slow for my taste. Not bad. Just not something I'll fly through, or want to read often.
But now she's claiming I have to read her books, because she reads the ones I make her read. Though she ASKS for them. And flies through them so fast it doesn't inconvenience her other books.
And I'm willing to read one of hers here or there, to make her happy. And I warned her it will take time for me to get through one, since I am constantly switching back and forth between what I read.
Ah, what we do to try to keep peace with in-laws.
