Quick recap: Kevin has the flue, Scotty has to work on Christmas evening, the kids are a Nora. The medicine that Scotty gave Kevin make him sleep and dream his own 'Hallmark Romantic Christmas movie, in which he just found out that he drunk-married Scotty....

"This is a mistake, right?" Scotty's voice trembles with shock. "We can't be married." But judging from the look on Kevin's face as he reads through a stack of papers, that had he had found on the table in their room, the news isn't good.
"If that's your signature then we are married." Kevin shows Scotty the signature at the end of the page.

"That is mine. My signature. Yes. But... No... Listen, this is Vegas. This is where you can get divorced as fast as you got married, right?" Scotty asks in a near state of panic.
"We could... but... I apparently was stupid enough to agree to a marriage in community of property ... which was not so smart... because this entitles you to half my properties and vice versa."

Scotty shakes his head, then grins.
"I'm sorry, but all I have some dollars in my bank account, plus what I have left in my car. And with all my bad luck, I can only hope my car didn't get stolen last night. And then there's what I have in that bag. And I need those clothes...."

Scotty can see by the look on Kevin's face that the joke isn't well received. Kevin looks worried and so Scotty becomes more serious as well.
"Listen, I think I can safely assume that you have much more than I do, I remember vaguely that you told me you're a lawyer. So obviously you make more money than me.

But I don't want anything from you... I never wanted to be married to you in the first place. This is a mistake we should correct as soon as possible. This is Vegas. It shouldn't have to be that difficult to get our mistake-marriage corrected. So many people screw up in a drunken mood.

They shouldn't have allowed us to get married in the first place... If you're a lawyer, can't you sue them or something?..." Scotty suddenly wonders. Kevin shakes his head, though Scotty isn't sure that it means that he wouldn't have a case.
"Well, we'll have to think of a way to get out of this..."

"Can't we have it annulled or something? Due to the fact that we were totally drunk. It's not like we 'consummated the marriage' or something, right?" Scotty asks, remembering he once heard that term somewhere. Kevin looks at him.
"Are you sure we didn't have sex?" Kevin then asks.

As if bitten by a snake, Scotty rolls from the bed, covering his half-naked body with the sheet. Somehow redundant at this point perhaps, considering that Kevin had already slept with him and seen him half-naked. Scotty looks intently at the sheets that cover the mattress.

"There are stains on them." He says softly. Kevin takes a good look at the sheet now too.
"I'm not sure those are necessarily ours." Kevin then decides, having the faint impression that a clean room or even a clean bed is not high on the 'must-have'-list of this hotel.
"You really think that you and I...?" Scotty begins to ask.

He turns to the small waste-bin in the room and after a few seconds he replies:
"There is a used condom in here...." He says slowly, feeling violated somehow.
"Are we sure it's ours?" Kevin asks. "It could have been left here by some other couple before us. Not sure that cleaning up is high the to-do list."

"I don't know what would be more gross. Someone else's used condoms still here or you and me having sex." Scotty says. Barely have the words left his mouth or he realizes that they are very unkind. "I'm sorry. That came out wrong. I mean... I'm sure that the sex would have been great and that it wouldn't have been gross. Just..."

Nope, that's not right either. Kevin raises his hands.
"Don't you mean that a yesterday's condom is worse than the idea that you and I might have had sexual intercourse.. accidentally... while being totally drunk?"
"Yeah. Something like that. Could you have had sex with me?"

"I don't believe I was that drunk..." Realizing that those words sound rather harsh, Kevin adds: "Well, I could have! Under normal circumstances... I mean, you're good-looking at all, but... You know... " Kevin nervously waves with his hand, not sure how he can finish this sentence without sounding like a pervert or without insulting Scotty.

Thankfully Scotty has a good idea of what he's trying to say.
"It's okay, Kevin. I think I get it. I think, if I was that drunk that I can't remember that I got married, then sex was probably not going anywhere either. I know myself.. Didn't happen." He's suddenly fairly sure of that.

Kevin plans to say something in return, but a knock on the door changes that. When he opens up the door, he sees a young lady standing there.
"Wake up service and room-service. Your champagne breakfast as you ordered." She sing-songs cheerfully and she rolls in a little car.

"And the DVD of your wedding is ready too." She holds up a DVD as if it's a promotion-article and she almost shimmies along to some unheard music. Kevin's jaw drops.
"I'm not sure..." Kevin starts carefully. He hasn't ordered anything, nor can remember that the wedding would be filmed.

"Mr Walker-Wandell... Oh, I remember you... I thought it was sooo beautiful to see you two, so giddy with love...."
"... and alcohol..." Kevin mumbles. The girl gives him her brightest smile and she places the DVD on the table.

"It was bit weird to make those last minute changes,..." She then ponders. "...when we thought that everything had been settled. But changing the names in the ring from Scott to Scotty was a piece of cake. So was changing the last name from Randall to Wandell on the certificate.

We're still trying to find out what went wrong, but I'm glad we could help you out so quickly. But then, after all, this is Vegas. We're flexible... Meanwhile you're family has been informed and..."
"Wait! What?!" Kevin almost screams in horror.

"Your family has received their emails, as requested, with a picture of you and Mr Wandell, showing your wedding rings... You were such a beautiful couple...." She swoons again.
"When were they sent?" Kevin asks in shock.
"Well.. last night? Just like you requested?"

The young woman looks at them as if she thinks them completely insane for not knowing what she's talking about.
"You sent an email to my family?" Scotty asks, now really in shock.
"Oh, no, not you... You didn't want that... Something about preferring to eat glass?"

"Oh, good. I wasn't that drunk then." Scotty seems almost relieved. Kevin however looks like he's about to faint.
"There's no way my family can know about this." He whispers.
"Oh yes, they can. And they do by now..." The young lady cheerfully announces.

She gives the two men one more bright smile before leaving them alone and in total shock.
"This is bad, right?" Scotty carefully asks Kevin, upon seeing how white his face is.
"Really bad." Kevin acknowledges.

"They do know you're gay, right?"
"Oh, yeah."
"Sooooo, they'd rather you weren't? And they will hate me? Put a hit-man on my case to kill me?" Scotty now carefully asks. You never know. Kevin might belong to the mob or something.

Kevin starts to laugh.
"Oh, no, they'll love you death. Smother you with care. They are lovely and probably glad that I finally got married and that someone cared enough about me to make an honest man out of me and ... all that." The smile has vanished as quick as it came.

"The problem is ... huge!... Scott and I had planned to get married yesterday, join my family tomorrow, where he would meet them for the first time. And then we'd announce the fact that we had gotten married... My mom always tries to run my life for me and this time I wanted to be one step ahead....

That is why I was upset last night. Scott left didn't just leave me... I now also have to explain everything to my family. And explain you.. and.. nothing personal. .. but ... this just sucks. I will have to cancel on my family.... I can't face them."
"Maybe we should have breakfast first... Just take a moment to ..."

Before Scotty can finish his sentence, he and Kevin nearly jump out of their skins when a telephone rings.
"I think that's your phone." Scotty whispers. Kevin picks up his phone to see who's calling.

"Shit! That's my mother!" Kevin replies, now also whispering.
"Talk to her!"
"I can't!"
"You must!"

"How can I tell her?"
"Wham-bam! Like taking off a bandage! Just say it!" Scotty and Kevin are both still whispering, as if they somehow believe someone can hear them. Kevin takes a deep breath.

After one last desperate look at Scotty, he picks up and puts his phone on loud-speaker.
"Kevin. We just got your email. With picture." A female voice informs them. The voice is calm and kind, but Kevin knows better.
"On a scale of one to ten.. how mad are you?" Kevin asks.

"Oh, honey, I'm not angry with you. I can't wait to meet your new husband."
"There's a problem with that, mom..."
"No. I don't want to hear about 'problems'. You better be here at the arranged time..."
"Or else?" Kevin asks carefully.

"The answer to your previous question, about how mad I am, will be 'Twenty' and you don't want that, now would you?"
"No, mom." Kevin makes a sour face as he looks up at Scotty, who seems just as confused as Kevin is right now.

"Kevin, I want no further excuses. You and Scott, or Scotty, or whatever his name is, have been avoiding us long enough. And now we have to find out by email that you can't even bother to invite us to your wedding? I'm very upset. And so are your brothers and sisters. We've always stood by you and this... this...

You better make damn sure that you get here and have a damned good explanation, young man, because this is unacceptable!"
"Yes, mom." There's a loud click on the other side and Kevin cringes. "Oh, boy, she's mad as hell." Kevin rubs his face.

"How can I help?" Scotty asks.
"By coming with me?... I'm sure that if I can explain it all... They'll understand."
"Really?" Somehow Scotty isn't too sure about that, because Mrs Walker had sounded quite upset.

"I have tickets to fly to Montana, where we were supposed to celebrate the holidays? You're welcome to come along...? The house is big enough and there are enough guest-rooms?" Kevin suggests. Scotty has grabbed some bread and has it coated with a thick layer of jam. Stuffing his mouth gives him time to evaluate an answer.

Of course he should say 'no'. He doesn't know Kevin, he doesn't know Kevin's family. He doesn't want to be married to Kevin, but, yet, he's kinda stuck in this situation where he is married to Kevin. And he has no place to go. And he has no job. Besides, what is the alternative?

He doesn't really want to go back to Los Angeles. He has burned all his bridges there. He can't imagine that he would like to stay in Vegas and figure out the divorce on his own, while Kevin needs to be in Montana. Kevin, as a lawyer, could arrange a divorce far quicker, he assumes. And maybe while in Montana he can figure what he wants to do with the rest of his own life.

So, the way he sees it, he has 3 choices. One: go to Los Angeles and be miserable. Two: Stay in Vegas and be miserable. Three: go to Montana and maybe things aren't so miserable as he fears they could be.... Well, with those options, the choice is not that hard anymore.

"I'd like to come... Are you sure it will be alright?"
"Yes, my mother will most likely not kill me if I bring you as a witness..." Kevin tries to joke. Scotty feels as if everything is spinning out of control, so he exhales slowly.
"Can we at least finish breakfast first? I'm starving." He then says with a sigh.

*****

"I'll just have a quick bite to eat, I'm starving." Scotty says to Angie, his sous-chef. He tiredly rubs his face.
"Why don't you call Kevin?" She asks, knowing he's worried by his husband.
"Tempting. But I'd rather let him sleep off his flu."

"You'll take 5 minutes then?" She asks. Scotty nods, grabbing a quick bite just to calm his hunger. Kevin might be sick, but Scotty seems to be eating for two today. From a safe, dark place he can look at the people in the restaurant. It's very busy, people are obviously enjoying themselves.

They've already had two proposals and three couples announcing to their families that they were going to expand the family. Scotty takes his phone and dials Nora's number.
"Hey, Nora, can I speak to Olivia?"
"Sure."

He hears mumbling in the back and then he hears Olivia's voice.
"How's dad feeling?"
"Do you want to know? Or your grandmother?" Scotty grins.
"Both of us. He looked like death warmed over when we left."

"I think he's fine. I gave him some painkillers for his throat, they'll make him sleep."
"Gramma wants to know if she should go over to see him."
"No! ... Just let him sleep." Scotty can only hope that Nora won't go to their place and wake Kevin up.

"I think aunt Sarah already interfered." Olivia tells Scotty then.
"Oh, good. How's Daniel?"
"I'll give him his bath in half an hour and then it's bedtime for him."
"Okay, don't stay up too late and be nice to your grandmother."

Scotty finishes the conversation and puts his phone back in his pocket. He's tired and he sincerely hopes that Kevin hasn't passed the flu onto him, because he feels pressure on his eyes and his throat is starting to ache. Then he tells himself he's just feeling sick because Kevin is sick. He'd better get a hot cup of tea and get back to work.

He hesitates for a moment, but then he texts to Kevin:
"Hope you're feeling better. Thinking of you. Love you." He sends the text, not knowing that the soft beep does really reach Kevin's ears, but the pain-killers are doing a good job and all Kevin can do is just shift a bit and continue his dream.
