As they break their kiss and Scotty can see people come up to him to congratulate Kevin and him, all that Scotty can grasp is that Kevin had actually said ‘yes’. He had said ‘yes’. Yes to him. Yes to deepening their relationship. Yes to the closest thing they could have to a marriage. Yes to a life together.
He had never believed it possible. Kevin, who had had so many issues with commitments had made the ultimate commitment to him and from the look on his face and the love in his eyes, he had made that commitment with all his heart. Scotty’s stomach still flutters from the feeling of being in love with Kevin all over again, … not that he had ever been ‘out’ of love.
His smile is big and the happiness that floods through him makes him feel like he could climb mountains. When he turns to find Kevin, he can see a happiness that matches his.
“Congratulations. And welcome to the family.” Tommy’s hug is sudden but not unwelcome. Scotty can only nod, he’s unable to say a word.
Although emotions flood through him and he’s not sure whether to laugh or cry with happiness, too many people push and pull on him to stop and think things through. Kevin gets swept up by the others as well and Scotty loses track of his husband. His husband…. It sounds so good.

Kevin is up before Scotty, which is a rare thing, because there’s nothing that Kevin likes more than sleep, whereas Scotty doesn’t mind getting out of bed straightaway. Being up so early gives Kevin the opportunity to enjoy the rare chance of watching Scotty sleep. Relaxed. Satisfied. Happy. It puts a loving smile on Kevin’s face.
He still can’t imagine that they’re actually married. That Scotty had said ‘yes’ to him. All the time he had thought that Scotty would change his mind. Even when he got back at Nora’s place and he had heard that Scotty was getting dressed, he still believed that Scotty would tell him that he had reconsidered.
It wasn’t until Scotty had stood next to him, listening to Kitty speech with an anxious smile on his face, that Kevin had dared to believe this could actually really happen to him. That he would really be the lucky one, who’d get married. He plays with his ring. It feels good to have it on his finger. It’s as it should be.
He had feared that it would be meaningless, that he wouldn’t be able to hold on to his vows once he’d be married, especially because he was so bad at commitments. But the moment that Scotty had put the ring on his finger he had known that this was ‘it’. That moment in time that would change everything.
As if he becomes aware of the fact that Kevin is staring at him, Scotty turns over and wakes up. The long eyelashes flutter and then those big blue eyes look at Kevin and Kevin can’t help but smile like a fool.
“What?” Scotty asks, though he can’t fight the urge to reply to Kevin’s grin.
“You said ‘yes’ to me.” Kevin says, his voice is rough.
“I know. And if I remember correctly you said ‘yes’ in return.” Scotty points out.
“I love you so much.” Kevin moves closer to Scotty and kisses him.
“Love you too.” Scotty sighs between two kisses and he pulls Kevin closer.
