I've had a cell phone for over a year that is slowly falling apart. It was a Lady Quattro, with a beautiful cover that had butterflies that would light up when ever the phone rang...because of this, and the little flowery curlicues on the inside edge of the screen, and the little girly bells and whistles throughout the phone, I just kept using the phone as long as I could, taping the back cover on with black electrical tape, finally doing the same with the top cover. It's a flip top, and the two pieces have been getting very wobbly. I noticed a couple weeks ago that even the little butterflies weren't lighting up anymore (the main reason I kept taping together this phone), and people weren't getting the text messages I was sending (they came out in symbols rather than letters). I thought, I'm going to have to save some money up and buy another phone....
See, I would rather pay a little more for an unlocked cell phone, than to sign up for another two year agreement with AT&T just so I can get one of their cheapest phones for a so-called reasonable price...I usually end up going back to my old cell phone - an old pink razor that I've had for six years, but even that one has stopped working lately. It won't charge. Maybe it's just a battery being too old, but I don't want to buy a battery and find out it doesn't work (they're expensive)...
So I searched on line for a phone under $100, that's unlocked. I found one that's wifi accessible (supposedly without the need for a data plan), with a Quirty keyboard (whatever that means), and it has a camera function and an FM radio application. So I can listen to the radio if I wanted.
When I got the phone, I started charging it right away - you're supposed to before you use it....started charging it at 2:30 p.m. By 4:00 it was still charging. At six p.m. it was STILL charging. I had to unplug it and bring it home with me....at 8 p.m. it finally was finished charging. I couldn't figure out how to make a simple phone call. with just my fingers and the buttons. I couldn't figure out how to unlock the keypad or how to change the date and time....my old razor did this automatically.
My work-"daughter" had to show me how to unlock it. At home, my son had to pick the ring tone for me, show me how to work the radio....and we couldn't get online using my home router. So much for free wi-fi. I'm not insistant on using a phone for internet anyway, but it might have been fun once in a while if I could figure this out. I'm NOT going to sign up for a separate $20 a month for internet use on a phone plan though. Bills are high enough already.
But....I don't really know how to use my phone. I did buy one of the simplest phones available and I did make sure I read the reviews before ordering it....
wish I knew how to use it
wish I had the patience to look things up and read the information
I don't
