missing book - Ghosties?

I'm a little pissed at myself.  or a ghost.  So I'm reading this afternoon, relaxed on my bed, reading The Sweet Scent of Blood. and I got tired and fell asleep.  The book is very good, I was tired because I only slept for 3 hours last night.

After I wake up, I look for my book.  Can't find it on the bed.  I look on my husband's side-not there.  I ( Read more... )

So em, this may sound weird, but if things like that go missing you can give the "ghosts" that are taking it something in trade. This is the absolute truth. I had a hat I loved, a field hat and when I moved into one place, it disappeared. I looked everywhere, which included emptying a bag full of hats and putting them back one by one. Finally I gave up and said "alrighty, if you give me my hat back, you can have this one." and I "gave" them another hat I really liked, but one I could live without. I kid you not, the next day I got into the hat bag and my field hat was in there and to this day the other one is gone.

"ghosts" especially like shiny things, like old keys or what not. You can put out a dish and verbally give them the things in the dish. That might help.

I love your solution and am going to try it. Funny thing is, after my husband and I went out to dinner, My daughter helped me look for it. Now I had looked everywhere in my room, even asked by granddaughter - cause she likes to borrow my books to pretend to read - nothing. So My daughter finds the book on the lower shelf of my nighttable. I fell asleep with it in my hand this afternoon. So "ghosties" must have been playing a trick, or decided to give it back. Cause NO ONE moved the book. Strange - yes? Anyway I have it back, so I'm going to say thanks out loud now. (just did)

A lot of times things will go missing then come back. The way to keep it to a minimum is with the dish of shiny things that is theirs. Put it some place out of the way and don't take things out of it, because if you do they might decide to take your things again...

It's like dealing with three year olds.

I totally believe you; over the years I've dealt with a lot of "odd" things but I've never learned how to deal with it. Thanks for the advice. BTW, I love the analogy of dealing with a three year old. Makes me laugh!
