Obama!

I am so happy.  This country needed a change for so many reasons.  It's great to know that the majority of people in the USA could finally put aside whatever basic instincts or prejudices that we all grow up around, (even if we don't take them in, they are all around us) and vote for the right candidate.

I feel pretty good that I am alive during this historic mini-era.  I have grown up through the 60's and 70's, raised a family during the 80's and 90's and am now enjoying the "grandma years", (born in 1960) so I have lived through a lot of changes in society.  But recently, just reading some of what is going on, and listening to a lot of bigotry around me, hearing the way some people speak of others and watching the way our country has been behaving as well as other countries, I've felt like this country has gone backward from the ideals and idealism being fought over in the late sixties and early seventies.  It seemed to me that people care less now about evolving, free speech, littering, etc than they did then.  I understand that when people are trying to just survive, personal growth comes second and let's face it, we have been on a downslide for quite  awhile, but it seems that most of the civil rights movements, and major changes really slowed down.  We have made small improvements, slowly over the years, but nothing really affected me much until tonight.

But now that we have our first AfricanAmerican president actually elected by us - wow.  Some of us have been growing.  Some of our children are thinking more about people, ideals, and values than color.  Of course when we all finally give no thought at all about color-negatively or positively-, gender, creed or sexual lifestyle, that's when we will be truly be an equal country.  At least we are finally on our way.

YEAH OBAMA!!!!!!
