symphonic band
So yesterday, I tried out for the LSU Symphonic Band....AND I MADE IT!! YAY!!
Wanna hear something really funny though?
I am 9th chair...and 9 people tried out!! haha
But I am not insulted or discouraged by this at all, I actually laughed about it. And if anything, I am glad that I got last chair. It told me a bunch of things:
1. I did not SUCK, for if I did, they would've cut my ass. They don't accept bad players.
2. All the other people I was up against had at least 8-12 years on me. It would be an insult to any of them (and a HUGE complement to me) if I would've been placed higher than any of them.
3. Since I am at the bottom of the barrell, this gives me a chance to mark my progress. This is my first semester in lessons, and I will be able to see how much better I get according to the chair placements. I will audition for symphonic band every semester. Hopefully I can get a better chair!
This will be my FIRST concert band experience. I'm glad that I have the lower parts. It will give me a chance to learn how everything works, without having any really important responsibilities.
