Too many kitties!!

Okay, so this happened yesterday. I originally thought Rachel was going to work early in the morning and coming home in the afternoon. Then she was to go out shopping with her mother. For a dress or something. Yeah, like dress shopping is something they do... Neither of them like dresses. Anyway, it was also Canal Day in Chesapeake City and I eagerly wanted to go and see how many wild parties were going on. So what happened?

Rachel didn't go in to work until 4:30pm. So much for a steady schedule with her. Everyday is different. So we spent the morning relaxing at home, and then I dropped her off at her parent's house around 10:30 or 11AM. Her and her mom were going out shopping. I left with Able to go to Chesapeake City for Canal Day.

By the way, Canal Day is where the little harbor is FILLED with boats and party-goers. The town is full of vendors on the streets, and the streets themselves are shut down to traffic. Pedestrians only.

Able and I hit the streets of Chesapeake City. People were having fun all over. Able enjoyed the crowds and getting out with people. He's a friendly dog. We made our way into town and stopped to talk with people. Everyone wants to pet the doggy and almost everyone wanted to know what breed he was. Being a short dog, no one seemed scared when they heard he was a pit shepherd mix. As I made my way through town, I found where some of the Moon Nurseries employees live in an apartment and hung out with them for awhile. They had chairs on the balcony and a keg. Nice! Everyone was petting Able and a beer and a half later I got a call from Rachel.

"Mark, you have to come home. I found a cat by the dumpster. It's a Siamese!" is what Rachel said. Okay... So much for partying! I would have skipped the beer if I knew I was driving home so quickly.

When I finally got home there was no dress shopping. Rachel and her mother were cat shopping. Rachel wanted to get me a Siamese since Cindy died a few years ago. So they went to the Delaware SPCA and found a Siamese mix. The papers say she's a Siamese / Himalayan mix. She's shy, but loves attention from people. She has a little spot in the apartment by the extra chairs - a seat from the van and the third blue chair I bought from Craigslist. In time she will become friendly with the other cats. She's already swiped the dog a few times!

I think this is worth noting. Ironically, Rachel wanted to get me a Siamese cat to replace Cindy. The cat she picked could not be less like Cindy at all. And then the stinger - Rachel managed to pick a five year old, partially blind, declawed cat with a cold. I laugh every time I hear that! I think this cat might have belonged to a little old lady or something like that. She's soft, quiet and shy like it was just the cat and the old lady. Whatever the case is, now we have 4 cats and 1 dog in the apartment.

Yeah, I realize we're crazy!

Oh, and her name? Chessie because Rachel got her while I was in Chesapeake City.
