I have a crush on Obama. Not like I love him or anything. I don't want 12 million of his babies. And only in my
dreams have I considered making out with him. In real life he is a little too straight for my tastes.
But not since Clinton have I felt this hopeful, which in and of itself is worth pointing out, especially because I am aware that, even in the best-case scenario (best scenario in this instance = Obama winning the primary and general elections) this flush of enthusiasm will pass.
Remember when Clinton was elected and how excited we all were? I had only graduated from high school the year before. The Berlin wall had fallen and I was convinced that *real* democracy was right around the corner.
So I know not to expect miracles from Obama. And yet I have been embarrassingly, painfully swept up in Obamamania.
"Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama says Al Gore would play a key role in his administration if he wants one . . ."
Oh, Obama, what a mensch!
"[Hillary Clinton] has every right to stay in the race."
Oh, Obama! You truly are a man who believes in democracy!
"President Bush is quietly providing back-channel advice to Hillary Rodham Clinton, urging her to modulate her rhetoric so she can effectively prosecute the war in Iraq if elected president."
You bitch. You would, wouldn't you?
