I Know My Son Had A Seizure

Jun 14, 2007 18:47

On Sunday June 3rd 2007, my mom, son Matthew & I were at Walmart doing our monthly shopping & since my mom can't walk too far & gets tired easily, she has to use a riding cart. We usually fill the basket up with cat food, face supplies, vitamins, hair supplies & Matthew supplies. I was taking my time trying to find the kind of toothpaste for sensitive teeth because I take seizure medicine & the medicine can mess-up my gums & make them bleed. So, I finally found my toothpaste & when I found mom & Matthew I asked, "What's wrong?" My mom said that Matthew passed out. This is what she told me:

Matthew was sitting on her lap & then all of a sudden slumped over the handles of the riding cart & got his hand stuck. Matthew's eyes were still open when this happened. When my mom looked at him, his lips were blue & his face was the color of ashen.  He looked very pale, very tired & I had him drink some water. This was very odd for me because I have had Grand Mal Seizures before & I know this is hereditary but not my son, no way! I looked up what causes seizures. I know unconsciousness does & stress does but 'staring spells?!' Fuck! What's next?! You tell me! I was in total shock when I read that one word 'staring spell'

Last year, Matthew was on his little toy seat & it's not that far from the ground, he just fell straight on his back & hit his head which made his brain bounce & yet his eyes stayed open. He has an EEG appointment on July 5th at 8:40 in the morning but get this, Matthew & I get to stay up til midnight & we only get a 4 hour sleep & I'm sure we'll both be very bitchy, very tired, very out of it because he's never been up after 9:30.

I feel like I'm going through hell with Matthew just thinking about the type of seizure he had or maybe had but my mom is certain that Matthew had a staring spell seizure because her friend Tammy has them.

I'll let you know what the specialists say

For now, farewell!
