This will be a short nothing post for two reasons:
- I'm back to typing on an itouch
- it's much later than I realized and I have to be up in less than 8 hours.
I was pretty bummed about leaving the farm yesterday. I had a really great time working there. I don't know if it as very life changing, but it certainly settled a few wonderings and made me even more keen to support the right food market and agri cultures. I was especially glad yesterday to have another adventure to look forward to otherwise I probably would have been crying.
I got the afternoon off on my last day and toured a couple museums in Elverum. For a large town those were top notch museums (for a big city they would be too). If you ever find yourself there, be sure to check out the Skogsmuseum (forestry) and the Glomdalsmuseet (full scale traditional farm buildings and a large exhibit devoted to Taters, aka Romani people). Sometime you should ask me about the strange law for farm inheritances and purchases and about the ramifications of the Right of Access (which allows to pick berries and fungi from any property).
Wish me luck as I strike out on my own to hike through the mountains. There's a string of cabins all over Norway, that operate much like the car coop.
And I finally milked a cow my last day. I'm not very good at it.
