Jibbs "Song-drabbles"

Nov 08, 2009 02:02

I wrote these two drabbles right after I made my Jibbs fanmix, the original plan was to write a small drabble for each song on the fanmix, but I'm not sure I will ever do that so I decided to post the two drabbles I got already and see if any of you guys is interested in reading them!

As you well know, comments make me very happy lol.

Snuff - Slipknot

So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself
And I won't listen to your shame
You ran away, you're all the same
Angels lie to keep control
My love was punished long ago
If you still care don't ever let me know

“Is the Director in?” He stormed past Cynthia’s desk without even waiting for her answer, pushing the door open and marching into Jenny’s office.

The door slammed loudly as it closed and Jenny looked up calmly, locking her eyes on his, “You need something, Special Agent Gibbs?” She said, her voice ice cold.

“An explanation!” His voice was rising rapidly as he stared back into her eyes, “You sold me out to the press, Jen!”

“I acted in the agency’s best interest, Jethro.” She got up from her chair, her eyes glittering in anger.

“You mean you acted in your best interest, Director.” He spat out her title sarcastically and stepped closer to the desk.

“Like you said, I’m the Director of this agency, I’m supposed to do all I can to cover my position and the agency’s position in front of all kind of crisis.”

“And what about the agents? Don’t they deserve to get their ass covered too when they need it?” Gibbs’ eyes pierced through hers, but she didn’t look away. She knew better than that.

“I’m positive my agents know how to cover their own ass. I don’t think I need to cover for them more than I already do.” She knew they weren’t only talking about this time, it was something a lot older that was left unsaid between them.

“So that’s what you did six years ago… you left me alone to cover my own ass while you were off taking care of your career.”

It was a hurt whisper, and he leant dangerously close to her over her desk while he poured his pain into the sarcastic remark.

It wasn’t only his pain they were discussing though. She had suffered too, from her own decision.

“All I did was to protect the people around me…including you. I knew you would move on, I-”

“Are you saying…that what you did was in MY best interest? Are you saying that you left me alone in that damn hotel room in Paris…to protect me?” He leaned even closer to her and his eyes never left hers as she stared right back at him.

“When you love someone, sometimes you have to be ready to let go.” She whispered back, her tone even.

“Were you?”

She looked away and sat down again, staring at her desk, “No, but I had to let you go.”

Last Call - Lee Ann Womack

I recognized your number
It's burned into my brain
Felt my heart beating faster
Every time it rang
Some things never change
That's why I didn't answer

The fire was burning in the fireplace and she was sitting on the floor, staring at it in the silent house. It was too empty and too silent when she was alone, and after years sharing every place she’d been able to call home with her partner, she wasn’t used to be alone anymore.

Memories of the time they spent together came back flashing through her mind.

Hot August days in Marseilles, fading into hot and humid nights, their bodies slick with sweat, stuck together as they shared a small bed in a corner of an attic with no air.

And then their mission in Serbia, living on a little farm in the countryside, spending their time tangled in each other’s arms, indulging in their passion, waiting for something to happen that would put an end to the undercover mission.

Positano…Paris.

Looking at the Eiffel Tower from the balcony of an hotel room, making love every night under the flashing lights of the City of Love… Leaving a letter on the very same bed, trying to explain why she left, hoping he would understand and forget her.

The phone started to ring, snapping her out of the memories, and she glanced at the display as a lonely tear rolled down her face.

She knew the number, of course she did.

“Jen, we need to talk. I know you’re there, please answer the damn phone…”

Another tear made its way down her cheek and she closed her eyes, deep pools of green filled up with more tears as he still called her name through the voicemail.

She felt her heart break and it hurt so bad, her muscles twitched for her to reach out and grab the phone, and she wanted to talk to him and tell him just how much she loved him. But their roads had parted and they needed to move on.

He needed to forget her and move on, he deserved it and he would be better off without her.

“Jen…Jenny…I need to hear your voice…just one more time.”

But she couldn’t hurt him anymore, she loved him too much still, and she wanted him to be happy.

So she didn’t answer.

THE END

On a side note, I just re-read the first drabble and found it extremely freaky that I wrote that waaay before I knew anything about what is revealed in "Judgement Day", still the drabble clearly hints to what we come to know in that very same episode O.O freaky, isn't it?

public entry, drabbles, fanfics, jibbs, ncis
