I'm on track to be able to turn in my chapter to Dr. Block tomorrow -- maybe even tonight. If Will cooperates and goes to bed without incident, then I'll have a good hunk of time to work on my edits tonight. I was able to read through the second half of the chapter, which was still in rough(ish)-draft form, during Will's super-long nap this afternoon. So all that editing work is done. Now I need to write a brief conclusion to this damn monster. But I'm not going to stress about it too much. I'm going to throw together a paragraph or two at the end and call it good. Since Dr. Block will have comments for me before I give the chapter to the other two committee members, I have another chance to save myself from humiliation before anyone else reads it. So that's good.
I can't quite say how good it feels to be able to turn something in again. I'm not even going to take a break or wait for any response. I am just going to start doing reading that I know I need to do for chapter 4 and start writing things whenever I think of them. I've already got an email that I wrote to myself a few weeks ago about Falstaff and the pastoral that will be helpful. I'm just so eager to get through this...
It's nice that I am just now teaching Henry IV part 1, since that is what the next chapter is going to be about, mostly. And, I'm teaching As You Like It after that, which is also fortuitous because chapter 4 will also use the source for As You Like It as part of the argument. It'll be good to have a brush up on the play in case I need to make some brilliant point about how Shakespeare deviates from the original. Honestly, my schedule couldn't be any better in this regard. The funny thing, is that I didn't plan it that way. It was a happy accident. I'm teaching the plays in chronological order from when (we think) they were written, and it just so happens that AYLI follows 1H4 in my sequence. Gotta love my luck in that regard.
Well... Aric is about done with Will's bath, so I better go. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
