Guardian angel possesses the baby

Do you believe in guardian angels? I think one possessed Will today. I was going to go to the bank to make a deposit, and it was such a nice day that I thought I'd walk there. It's only a mile, so it would be a good walk on a lovely day. When I set out with Will in the stroller, we passed by a new park that just opened, and Will started screaming and putting his arms out toward the park, as if he really wanted to go there. I hesitated and looked at the time. I figured we could stop at the park for a little bit. So we did. He played on the structure and followed around this little six-year-old girl like he had a crush on her. It was cute. After about an hour, I thought we should head off to the bank. But when I got Will in the stroller, he started flipping out again. I decided that if I were going to go to the bank that I had better drive because I didn't feel like walking down the street with a screaming kid. (You can imagine the looks I'd get if I did that...) I walked two blocks home to get the car, and once Will was in the car, he didn't cry any more. We drove to the bank, and when we got there, it was closed. The sign on the door said it was closed because of an undisclosed emergency. There were two men standing outside -- one a security guard -- and I asked what this was all about. He said the bank had been robbed, and they closed for the rest of the day. I asked when this happened, and he said a little over an hour ago. Man. If Will had been a happy camper when I wanted to go to the bank, we almost certainly would have been in the bank when it was being robbed. So many thanks to our guardian angel for possessing Will today. I am very glad that we didn't have to be in that situation. The guard said no one was hurt, but still... it would have been very scary, and I would not want to be in that situation with Will. Or by myself for that matter -- but especially not with my little angel-channeler.

The rest of the day was pretty good. We went to the story time at the library, as usual on Thursday, and it was great. Will just loves going to that. His little face is just ear-to-ear smiles when we're at the library. I hope that I'm creating a life-long love of books for him. He's really into the singing, too, which is awesome. We've been reading him books before bed, too, and I think he requests "Green Eggs and Ham" at least twice a day. I'm very encouraged. I just want him to enjoy books because I've enjoyed them so much. And I actually sort of feel sorry for people who don't like to read. They miss out on a lot of good stuff. Of course, I'm sure that they'd say the same thing about me missing out on the wonders of Nascar. But hey, we all have our different drums to pound.

Okay... more Henry V tonight. I'm on Act 3. It's probably a good thing that it's summer. No good TV to tempt me away, even if there IS an Office marathon on tonight. I've seen them all several times, so it's not as if I'm missing anything.
