Lord of the Rings

Invictus Series
My longest-running labor of love. Listed in reverse chronological order, newest first
  • Invictus (Current Work-in-Progress; Unpublished-but-dang-it-I’m-going-to-finish-the-first-draft-this- year-if-it-kills-me)
  • Ashes of Eden (Published: 2013) Drabbles. A collection of snapshots exploring the tempestuous relationship between Haldir, marchwarden of Lórien, and Celebrían, the Lady of Imladris that withstood the passing of Ages, the advent and aftermath of war, and the inevitability of parting.
  • Upon the Road of No Returning (Published: 2008) Vignette. "Farewell" is the hardest word to acknowledge between friends because you know you don't want them to fare anywhere without you. Aragorn and Haldir part in Lothlórien as the War of the Ring darkens their horizons.
  • Uncovered Night (Published: 2008) Vignette. Supposedly safe at last within the boundaries of Lothlórien, Aragorn stands vigil over his sleeping Fellowship and struggles with the unacknowledged darkness in his soul.
  • Dwimmerlaik (Published: 2007) Multi-chaptered. When Haldir fails to return from a seemingly short reconnaissance north of Rivendell, Aragorn, haunted by nagging unease, sets out with a Dúnedain contingent to find him. What awaits plunges them into grave peril and the deepest heart of darkness.
  • A Beautiful Night for Dancing (Published: 2007) Vignette. Aragorn finds himself in a quandary with a summer festival approaching. Hoping to attract the woman he loves, he enlists the slightly unwilling help of an old friend to teach him a new skill.
  • Agarwaen (Published: 2007) Multi-chaptered. When an old friend and a new enemy resurfaces, Aragorn uncovers more of the marchwarden's evasive past than is wise. Trying to protect him and his own secrets at all costs, Haldir will end up risking more than his safety for the young ranger.
  • A Warrior's Experience (Published: 2006) Multi-chaptered. Curious about the terse warrior who saved his life, Aragorn tries questioning Haldir in an effort to draw him out, meeting resistance. It takes an encounter with poachers in Lothlórien's woods to tease forth the first tentative blossoms of friendship.
  • First Name Terms (Published: 2006) Multi-chaptered. Injured in a fog ridden ravine near Lothlórien, Aragorn struggles to win the confidence of a Galadhrim patrol-particularly that of their mocking commander whose little fondness for humans rears when they offer him reluctant succor.
  • The Cost of Blood (Published: 2005) Multi-chaptered. A terrible encounter with men leaves Haldir physically and emotionally scarred. Goaded by his maverick commander who has his own reasons for hating men, he falls onto a dark and twisting path that threatens to break his very spirit.
  • Agar Saer (Published: 2004) Multi-chaptered. Victimized by his estranged and abusive uncle, Legolas doesn't know where to turn for help. With his father's kingdom falling into darkness, he finds comforting support in a young Lothlórien officer who may be the only one to aid the Greenwood.
Non-Invictus-related (mostly slash)
  • Shadowlands (Published: 2016) Multi-chaptered. In the wake of Isildur’s death, an unlooked-for visitor arrives at the Homely House, and Erestor finds himself caught up in a whirlwind of intrigue and danger that threatens not only the lives of those he holds dear but the exposure of his greatest secret.
  • Souls, Hollowed (Published: 2014) Vignette. War makes for strange bedfellows, as does grief. Two survivors of the Battle of Five Armies, who fought each other before they fought their enemies, try to make sense of the aftermath and the losses they share.
  • Chasing Nightingales (Published: 2012) Multi-chaptered. An interesting errand draws a young Aragorn to the Edge of the Wild and into the company of a dangerous man he believes to be an Enemy spy.
  • Among the Ruins (Published: 2011) Multi-chaptered. The cataclysm has happened, we are among the ruins. For Legolas, a chance encounter with a half-remembered ally in Fangorn initiates an altogether different struggle through darker and murkier shadows in the wake of Sauron's defeat.
  • A Stirring in the Blood (Published: 2010) Vignette. It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! Mark Twain. Estel's heart aches for freedom.
  • Nighttime Wanderings (Published: 2007) Vignette. A very young Estel wakens from a nightmare. Uncertain of his standing with his new family, he seeks out an unlikely person for comfort and not only Elrond and the twins learn the little adan is special among his kindred.
