Some days it's all about the little things...
I was working in the pharmacy today, dealing with all the crazies who wanted their drugs. :-P Well this woman pulls up to the window, talking on her cell phone, totally ignoring this pretty little girl in her back seat. This beautiful little blonde looked up at me with these big doe eyes like I was someone Big and Powerful and certainly I wouldn't notice tiny little her. I looked right at her, smiled, and waved. I received the biggest toothiest grin for my efforts. While I was waiting for her mother to decide what she was doing, I pulled at my pig-tails to show them off to the girl. She waved her hand around and tugged at her pink hair-clip and smiled like we just shared the biggest secret in the world. As her eyes shifted forward I realized her mother was ready and I reacted accordingly. I rang her up, wished her a good day. I then looked back at the little girl, smiled, and waved good-bye. She gave me an even bigger grin than before, almost bounced out of her seat waving back, and I'm certain she was giggling. I noticed her mother smile, get off the phone, and start talking to her as they pulled away. Her smile made the whole rest of the day so much easier to ignore.
