Hey Peeps!
Am back from my London experience which was brill, though I am ever so slightly exhausted this morning and I need to be at work in half an hour (groan).
Above is a pic of the orchestra at Classical Spectacular in the Royal Albert Hall - sorry if the pic's a bit crap my camera has a rubbish flash! Was a great performance and the solo violinist played like the devil!
Had a bit of a to-do getting there though, we set off from home on Sunday at 7.50a.m. as the coach was picking up at 8.15 outside Baths Hall in town. Got there in good time and were stood waiting in the wind and rain for 1 hr and 45 mins before said coach decided to make an appearance!!!
Arrived in london then the bus driver and the courier started arguing because they didn't know which way to go for the hotel... we finally arrived and the hotel was ace. Me and big sis were sharing a room and just had enough time to get showered and changed before the bus picked us up again at 5.30p.m. to go to the Royal Albert Hall. I thought this was a bit extreme considering the performance didn't start until 7.30p.m., but I hadn't considered London traffic or that our tour guides might get lost again. One hair-raising U-turn later and we made it to the Hall in one piece. Got inside and sat down, was absolutely roasting, but I was so excited I hardly noticed!
The performance was fantastic we had some operatic performances and me and my sister Vicki went wild with flag-waving and singing when we came to singing Rule Britannia!! Hilarious. I was prepared for the cannons going off at the end as my Nanna and Grandad had warned me beforehand, but my sis shot out her skin! Tee hee.
Didn't get back to hotel until 11.30p.m. and was shattered then was up on Monday at 7.00a.m. to pack and get brekkie before hopping on the coach again. Then went to Regent street to do the obligatory Christmas shopping, but found the whole hustle and bustle of London shops overwhelming - guess I'm more of a country girl at heart!!
Didn't get back home until 8.30p.m. last night. Was tiring but enjoyed the whole thing!!!
Well that was my London trip, next time think I'll aim to spread the experience over more than 2 days...
