I'm doing a 1.3 mile walk in September to raise money for Alzheimer's disease research.

My great Grandma lived to be 103, and the last 10 or so years of her life she was afflicted with the disease. It was sad to go to the nursing home and have to be let into the Alzheimer's unit, which was locked off from the rest of the home. They kept 40 or so patients locked up to wander the halls and wonder where they were and why their family had abandoned them. They never remembered when you came to visit and only spoke about things that happened mostly when they were children or teenagers. For some reason that seems to be about the only knowledge their minds retain.

It was probably one of the most frightening places I ever went as a kid. People were strapped to chairs, they would follow you thinking you were their kid and they would cuss and scream and cry. It wasn't their fault. They knew no different. It was so upsetting.

Anyhow....if you'd like to donate (even $1) feel free and I will truly appreciate it. My goal is to raise $350,and I'm halfway there!!This will go toward my lifetime goal of raising $5,000 for charity. If you donate at least $5 they send you a nifty magnet to put on your car, fridge or wherever else you just might want to put it. We also have Alzheimer's association bracelets for sale for $2, which goes towards the walk.
