Meanderings...

There's so much frost on the back windows I can't see out.  All I can hear is the hum of the fridge, the cars driving by, and the breathing of the man asleep on the floor behind me.

I slept on the floor last night too. That's been my bed for a week now because I rented out my bedroom for $200 to tide me over until the new tenant arrives in January.  Mike, the co-op student, moves out on the 22nd. Then my visitor can use that room and I'll get my bed back. Hurrah! My old body is not used to alternative sleeping arrangements. It likes its own bed.

Our choir sang with Ben Heppner this past Saturday. http://www.benheppner.com/

What a rush that whole concert was. Just the atmosphere of the twinkling lights on the garlands and trees all around the auditorium, the shining brass instruments of the Salvation Army Band, the sheen and tones of the grand piano that sat centre stage, the "black-tie" garb of the choir and orchestra, and then Ben Heppner himself with his booming voice and gentle demeanour. It was almost magical. They presented great red bouquets of roses to Ben and the band master and choir mistress, as well as Joan Mee, the producer, at the end of the concert. In spite of all my practicing, I felt terribly inadequate, but by God's grace He took all our inadequacies and brought together something beautiful. I've heard only good reports from those who came to hear. Praise God we had the opportunity to present His message of hope to those that do not know Him. May God use that message to stir up a thirst in each unbeliever to know more of Jesus.

So I have the next two weeks off. I'm looking forward to shopping and baking. I won't be doing a real gift exchange like other years. I am determined to catch up on my property taxes before the year's end and I can only do that if I direct every bit of income to that end. Instead, I have asked each on what their favourite Christmas treat was when they were growing up and am incorporating those treats into our meals. Gerald's was gum-drop cake. Doug's is carrot pudding with brown sugar sauce. Byron's is rice krispie squares. Paul's is yams. Zoltan said his Mom used to wrap candies in shiny paper and hang them from the tree. I have yet to find out what Mike and Terry liked. I'll even ask Andrew, our visitor as he will be here for Christmas. It might just be a busy week after all.

Well, that's it for now. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year if I don't get back here for a while. Remember Jesus is the source of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Freedom. He is the reason we celebrate.
