birth dates and other randoms.

first of all, don't know if you all noticed (I've only mentioned in comments) but I am keeping a running list of birth dates, updated each time I see a birth announcement posted, in my journal. I figured it's best to keep it there since I nearly never post in the journal itself, so it'll be super easy to find, just click my username and there it is ( Read more... )

My digi cam died. It needs a new battery. So i ordered one online last week (cheaper than the stores here). I had a talk with my belly and i said "PLEASE stay in there, I need my camera to be working when you join us. But that does not mean as soon as it comes in you are to come out"

Yeah i talk to my baby like that all the time.

they don't always listen, though. the midwife who attended my first birth came for a saturday visit, told me the birth would be "soon" and as she left, told my belly "not tomorrow, I want sunday off!"

well, guess who arrived the next day...

LOL..

I keep telling him.. Please.. My baby shower is on Sat. Can you stay in there and cook.. The dress is not gonna look to pretty in the closet while i am in the hospital.

So far he is listening.

WIth my first son my mother in law leaned into my belly and said. Can you please come before 3:30 i have to go back to work and i do not want to missing you joining us. @ 3:30 on the dot he was put on my chest.

thanks for keeping an updated list!

how long were your previous labors? i know you said you dont mind doing a UC, but do you think she will make it in time? i wonder the same thing about my midwives...i was relatively fast first time around, and with all of this false labor action so far in advance, im wondering if baby is just going to push right out before they arrive. my husband is like, 'yo...if no one is here, im calling 911'. HAHA. he knows he better not even dare.

my first was 20 hours total, with 8 hours hard/painful
my second was 13 hours total, with 6 hard/painful

so I'm not really expecting anything less than 8 hours. the only way I think the MW wouldn't make it is if I don't call right away. we'll see.

my husband is down with a UC, though. I mean, that's our "set" backup plan, if she doesn't show! we had a talk with her, she went over what we should do, lent us an "emergency childbirth" book.. but I think we'd be ok anyway, what with having done 2 all-natural home births previously. not to mention instinct and intuition and what not.

wow, youre a soldier! haha. you know, in discussing natural childbirth with others, when they ask me how i stuck to it, i tell them honestly, 'because it was fast and because no one was there to offer me drugs'. granted, there was resolve and research and i was definitely determined, but there was a point where the pain and vulnerability mixed to make me think death would even be an option, so i cant trick myself into thinking i wouldnt have hooked myself up to the nearest morphine drip if one was available. people who really want to stick to it get upset when they find they cave in around 5-6cm dilation. to me, the biggest deal is not having people around who will offer you relief, and not having people around who will PUSH it on you especially. if you really want a natural childbirth in a hospital setting, youll need the nurses, a doula, or your partner knowing your wishes and being willing to stand by you with reinforcement. otherwise, i think its part of the laboring process to start to cave and get shaky about your ability to ( ... )

i should say, the nurse at the hospital with my daughter DID come around once at about 5 cm and i had tears in my eyes and asked her if the pain was going to get much worse and she smiled, 'oh yes, much worse' and she told me i should reconsider my wanting to do it naturally. i didnt answer her, so i guess i passed the test, but i swear to god had anyone come back around right before transition i would probably have demanded to be shot. i was really wishing for a stick to bite and a shot of whiskey, but perhaps ive read too many civil war novels.

ok /side rant. :P

yeah, it's weird, the difference between yesteday and today would be, uh, no difference, weather-wise, but march just *sounds* more springy, and that makes me happy. I don't like the idea of birthdays in the dead of winter. I think I'd like to avoid nov-feb with future babies as well. my other kids are may and june.

Lol. We're getting all our snow now! I guess March is coming in like a lion after all. My husband keeps saying he's not worried because he has four-wheel-drive, but I say this baby's got to stay in there for a few more weeks anyway.

yeah, we're still in the ballpark for snowstorms, though it's been nice lately... I just think the sound of march is nicer than the sound of february. feb is sure to be gray and blah. march at least has options :)
