for all of you mommies how have had a c-section in the past, how soon after the c-section did the PP bleeding start and about how long did it last
( Read more... )
I had a c-section 11 days ago and I am still bleeding a little. It was like a heavy period at first but now it's like a super light day.
Also, they didn't strap my arms down. I thought they were going to, but they didn't.
I actually had a good experience with it. My doctors were excellent and the spinal block was great. I recovered very fast. I was up and around less than 24 hours after it and walking the halls at the end of my second day in the hospital just fine with no pain meds.
The bleeding started, for me, right after my section. It lasted a week or two, it's been a while (three years) so I don't remember too much...I did have my arms strapped down, BUT I didn't even notice it. They want to make sure you don't hurt yourself. You can ask if their policy is to strap you down or if you can have the option of being 'loose' I didn't have a bad c section experience at all, considering the circumstances. I had an 18 inch insiscion so my son could be taken out without any risk of rupture (he has spina bifida) and I was up walking around about eight hours later...I stopped vicodin two days after my surgery and took only ibuprofen for the first week afterward...I found that getting up and moving made me feel a heck of a lot better...also an ice pack on my insiscion seemed to make a huge difference as well. The nurses all thought I was nuts, but I was swollen and the ice make a big difference in that! good luck! you'll be just fine :)
thats why they said my arms would be strapped/held down. . . they don't want me to hurt myself by jerking around and such. . i'm a lot less nervous about it,but still. .you know how it is! I plan on getting up ASAP after my baby is born to avoid tons of pain later.
Good grief!! Strap your arms down! Never heard of it!
I had my second caesar last friday, and I've never been strapped down. I had to hold my arms out though. DH held my one hand, and I had a finger clamp on the other hand to monitor my heart rate, but that's it.
I had a fantastic experience this time. The anaethetist was amazing! The spinal went in first time (last time I felt like a pin cushion).
As for the bleeding, it started immediately, and then tapered off, and it's still there, but just barely.
I had Grant a month ago and I'm still bleeding a little bit... enough for a panty liner. It started right after the c-section though.
They didn't strap my arms down either. However, my epidural didn't take (even after 4 tries just to get the damn thing in), and it was an emergency situation, so I was knocked out pretty soon after laying down.
