The day before yesterday was terrible. I was sneezing constantly, wanting to scratch my eyes out, sore throat, headache, nose raw from being constantly blown etc. The whole day was wasted because I was unable to do anything. (Zirtek doesn't seem to be helping this year.)
Then I remembered I'd bought an airfilter last year. I plugged it in and left it whirring away over night in my bedroom. All yesterday I had it going in the same room as me, and it was on all last night too. I haven't sneezed once since I switched it on. My eyes are slightly itchy still, but it's not really a problem. My nose is clear, my throat is fine. I have no headache. I am even sitting next to an open window, and I'm still fine. Now, it could be coincidence. I think I'm only allergic to a specific type of pollen, and there's usually some small part of summer that I can enjoy, but the speed with which it's all cleared up once the filter was switched on is really quite amazing.
This little thing is staying on for the rest of the summer, I think:)
In other news, I've unsubscribed from ubuntu-users, as its signal:noise ratio isn't so good. I seem to be spending some time over on the
Kubuntu forums trying to be generally helpful. I did start by
posting a question, but noone seems to have been able to answer that (nor did the folks on the kde mailing list:( ). I've successfully helped a few other people with their problems though, which makes me feel good inside.
