[Between Sirius having disappeared into thin air; he'd told the git not to go off on his own...; and Harry's recent tribulations, James has not been on his top game recently. While he's glad Lily's returned, the fact that she'd blipped off the planet for a few days still looms large, especially with Sirius' disappearance still being so raw and recent. He isn't quite sure how to comfort his son over it, as he hasn't quite figured out how to comfort himself about it just yet... after all. From all he'd heard, Sirius wasn't headed home to anything good.
He'd asked around for where to get tea and had gone to fetch some. Made some, silently, the way his mum always had to cheer him up on slow winter nights: plenty of cream and sugar, and piping hot.
However, the tea cup that sits in front of him has no steam coming off of it. He's playing the glass between his fingers, staring into space ahead, focused on nothing. He's not noticed it's gone cold and he's yet to even take a sip...
If there's one thing James Potter hates, it's feeling powerless. And there's nothing more helpless than not being able to keep your girl, your son, and your best friend close. The future might not be kind to any of them, but Somarium wasn't looking to be much kinder.]
